HISTORY
The
Green Tree Community Health Foundation was created as a result
of the sale of Chestnut
Hill HealthCare to a joint venture between Community Health
Systems, Inc. a for-profit health care system headquartered in
Brentwood Tennessee and the University of Pennsylvania Health
System.
Chestnut
Hill HealthCare was an integrated health care system including
the 100-year-old Chestnut Hill Hospital as well as Chestnut Hill
Rehabilitation Hospital, and other related entities.
The Green
Tree Community Health Foundation was created to carry out the
charitable outreach activities of the former not-for-profit Chestnut
Hill Healthcare in its primary service area--an area extending
from Nicetown to Norristown and from Manayunk to Ambler.
